It is derived from a combination of Mambo and Hustle, and has its roots from Cuban culture. Salsa has a pattern of six steps danced over eight counts of music. Samba is a Brazilian dance known for its distinctive variation in rhythms occuring simultaneously within every song. Samba style is bouncing steadily and smoothly in 2/4 meter. Rumba is a slow and romantic Latin Dance and is the basis for Mambo and Cha Cha. Rumba is a prerequisite for good Latin dancing, and helps sharpen your sense of rhythm, timing and muscle control. Chacha has a split beat rhythm which is derived from Mambo. Cha cha, or Triple Mambo, is but an advanced stage in interpretative social dancing born of the fusion of progressive American and Latin music. Shines are the fancy steps that the dancers make when the couple separate from each other. Cuban Motion teaches the dancers to isolate body movements for dancing to Latin Music. Parts of the body should move in an appropriate way to the rhythm of the music. Waltz is a classical ballroom dance that has been traced for more than 400 years. This dance has a distinctive one-two-three step, which makes the couple spin and turn around the ballroom. Foxtrot is a great dance for beginners as it teaches the novice variety, maneuvarability, and how to combine steps easily. The steps follow Foxtrot’s mantra: “Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick.” Swing is a popular dance for jazz music, however the present version is based on two slow and two quick counts or the slow and two quick counts of rhythm dances. Tango is traced back to country dance of England in the 17th C. From there it evolved to three types of Tango: Argentine, American and International. International Tango is a highly disciplined and distinctively structured form of Tango in which dancers remain in traditional closed position throughout. Jive is categorized under Internation competitive Swing dance. This is characterized by uptempo single time music danced with triple steps done primarily on toes with very lively movement.
