Edna Ledesma Asano

Edna Ledesma Asano together with partner John Derrick Co are the 2005 Senior, Latin Champions, in the 80th Annual Blackpool Dance Festival held in Blackpool, England. This competition is the foremost competition Dance Sport where the best dancers in the world compete annually.

Edna has had her share of partners namely Brian Calo (2001-2003), Genice Marquez (1998-2001) and Janno Ployapoy (1997-1998). She has won numerous awards in Latin-American dancesport competitions, such as being the Phil. Amateur Latin Champion since 1997 until she turned senior, Amateur Latin Champion in the 2005 Singapore Lioncity Dance Sport Championship and many others. She has competed extensively in Asia such as Singapore, Hongkong, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, etc. Since 1997-2001, she is consistently in placing as top 3 in most Asian competitions.

Edna Ledesma was an instructional host for 9 months in the Philippines' local dance show known as Eezy Dancing in 2001. she has 3 instructional VCD's in the Philippine market showing step by step instructions and variations in various dances such as swing, cha-cha, rumba, paso doble, jive, reggae, waltz, tango, Argentina tango, lambada, salsa/mambo and foxtrot. She trained in ballet, jazz and Hawaiian at a young age for 8 years. She also dances flamenco, belly dancing, Argentina tango as well as pilates.

Aside from competing, she is a full-time teacher in Latin-American dancing. She teaches social dancers, competitors and conducts group and private workshops/lectures, as well as do dance shows and demonstrations.

She had extensive training in Latin dancing by a renowned adjudicator and coach from Australia, namely Marita Withers. Her success today in Europe particularly reaching the top in England has been due to Paul Harris, her British coach, Tutelage. She takes regular workshops from the world's best professional couples and adjudicators/coaches from England, Slovenia, South Africa, Finland and the U.S. Edna is truly a world-class dancer, athlete, competitor and teacher.
